Where Do You Go To My Lovely

Where Do You Go To My Lovely

How often music seems to influence my thoughts and my art. A song catches my mind as I run and for days it is there in the back of my mind.

For the last few days I have been thinking of the song from the 60s  with the first line, "Where do you go to my lovely when your alone in your bed. Tell me the thoughts that surround you. I want to get inside your head.'

So often this ends with me putting something on a canvas or sheet of paper. Such was the case yesterday with the painting above.

I am aware that it is similar in style to some of the works I have done before. I do not apologise that this is the case. Somebody reminded me that Monet painted a great many different versions of his lilly pond paintings.

Most of the other similar paintings to this have been done large scale. This one is done on acrylic paper and kept to a size that with the mount is 16" x 20".

  1. Music often puts pictures in my head too, Ralph. I just don't listen as much these days because it tends to make me maudlin! LOL Nice piece; will it replace the one you sold in your living room?

  2. I often paint to music (rather than as a result of listening to it). I think it helps me not to rush and also to take the painting process more slowly. I think that the music helps the result :0)

  3. Hi Ralph, just saw your comment on my blog and thought I would return the favour and visit you. Your work is beautiful and I like what little I have read so far - you have a nice story telling way about you (am guessing that may come from your time as a minister and teacher!) As for my comment on Katherine's post -I was typing on a tablet on the train just before my stop and it was quicker to type UK than England - so be surprised no more! Being from Northern Ireland I am well aware of the separate countries that make up the United Kingdom and was only glad that for once the rioting wasn't in Ulster (although that came last weekend with the 12th August march in Derry).
Anyway, thanks for the follow and I'll enjoy following back.
