Floral Abstract.

A Floral Abstract.

I am not sure where my art is taking me but it is for sure taking me down roads and avenues I had not thought I would travel.

My first love has always been abstract art, followed closely by seascapes and mountains. Yet recently I have found myself painting actual places from research and memory.

I have often returned to nature and poppies, but always with intent. This painting happened. I started with wonderful bright thoughts of nature and vivid colourful thoughts. Somewhere along the way poppies crept back into the picture.

If you read my other blog you will be aware that I and friends have had much debate of late about the planet and nature and our place within it. So maybe this is where the influence comes.

Enfolding Love.

Enfolding Love.

I wandered empty paths
And tramped ore’ lonely dales.
The hands of time moving ever onward
As the sun chased the clouds across the sky.
The tramp of foot echoed the beat of heart.
Enveloped in natures bliss.

Alone was I on path and life
And felt the desolation.
But each little bloom of daffodil
And celandine
Smiled my way to cheer me down the miles.

I saw a tree majestic.
Head reaching high to catch the racing clouds.
As I walked, it stood
And held me in its its grasp.
Down through the years
On sentry stood.

I saw the rocks
Beneath its feet
Its roots embraced and held on tight
Caressing in love
Protecting each other.
Deep Enfolding Love.

Life moves ever onward
The path of life on forward march
The journey could be full of fear
But to know that love enfolds,
chases every tear.
To be held by one
In deep enfolding love
Makes the step grow light
And the way a path of joy.

Along The Canal

Along The Canal

On my other blog today I speak of one of my students. This little watercolour was painted along the canal where he and I often ran together. I have left much of the rest of this blog today very much the same as it was yesterday. This watercolour I still have hanging in my home. I actually like it which is unusual for me to say that about a waterclour I have painted.  Maybe it is because the place has many happy memories for me.

A Moment of Togetherness.

The snow was deep painting everything in wondrous white.

Silence surrounded me,

broken only by my pressing of the snow.

Then all at once I saw them,

three deer stood like sentinels before me.

Ears pricked as two sped off in haste.

The other looked and caught my eye.

I gazed in awe into the deep pools

eye to eye we stood.

Slowly he stepped aside to let me pass.

With thankful thoughts I left him to his day,

But in my heart I carried him on my way.

Nor will I forget that moment when we were one

And all of life stood still.

A second that will last eternally.

I thought I would share this moment with you. It happened as I ran through the woods a few miles from my home. I have run these woods so many times and have been inspired by the beauty often. But this one moment will be with me for a long time. How I wish I could find a  way to express it in art.

Abstract MM1

Abstract MM1

I put this art back on here today because it is probably the one abstract that so many people saw in so many ways.

In this abstract there is in fact the face of a child that is only noticeable if you look at the painting in a certain way. Some people see it some never ever do.

Some who see it like what they see, others find it eerie and worrying.

It is of course all how you respond to the painting. This is exactly what I am talking about on my blog today. How we respond to situations in nature and in life.

This painting was created using mixed media.

I have a you tube of how it was done.

This painting and another like it was purchased very soon after it was painted and both now hang in the same home.

Natures Chair

Natures Chair.

Yesterday I ran 10K, I cleaned my vegetable plot and harvested potatoes, then I went for a walk. After all this exercise I was looking for a seat. As some of you know I have been walking the coastal path in stages. Yesterday as I walked I gathered some of the wild blackberries that grew along the path. The real highlight of the walk was this rock formation, on a bend in the path looking out over the river forth with its many islands.

The rock invited you to take a rest and enjoy. I did just that. It was smooth from years of people doing just what I was doing. Why sit on the nearby wooden seat that had been placed on the path when nature had provided this? Soon there will be a health and safety notice on it saying, “Cold stones can cause piles.” I am being cynical, I apologise.

Sherry was asking yesterday, if I was serious about the card thing. I am not sure, is the answer. If it is ok with the readers of this blog I will do a few more on here and take head of what you say to me. I will then trial one or two and see what happens. I will use both pictures and my own paintings. If anybody has paintings they think might fit the theme I would have no concerns about others doing the same. I would even be willing to help with the words.

So for today’s picture:-

Natures Chair.

Put here by nature way back in the beginning, before man.

Waiting to receive the weary traveller and offer rest.

How many before down through the years have done just that?

How many proposals have been made here, love declared?

How many important decisions?

How many have been inspired to greater things?

When we are at one with nature, nature is at one with us.

Nature seems to know that we need to stop and rest.

To gather our thoughts, and find peace.

Quietly nature offers us places of solace.

The wise person takes up the offer.

I hope you have a fruitful day with a moment of peace and harmony.

Thoughts of Summer

Thoughts of Summer

Yesterday somebody commented that they liked a part of my splintered dreams painting. The one I did not like at all. Yes there are some parts of it that I do like and the identified part was one such. I painted this sitting outside my caravan door. The caravan was on a site situated at the edge of a woodland. It was exactly one year ago that I painted this. I remember it very clearly and how the early morning colours filled me with the hope of the coming of summer. I went into the van and grabbed a canvas and rushed this painting off in acrylic.

It seem appropriate to put it back on the blog today, not just because somebody yesterday mentioned it but because had I not had an accident washing the roof of my caravan I would have been sitting outside today in that very same spot. Alas it was not to be but I dragged the painting out yesterday, it is still licking about my painting space, and it still spoke to me of the coming of summer. Also reminded me that if my actions had been more considered I might not have needed to look at it I could have savoured the reality. Actions and deeds the theme of my other blog this morning.
