Coming Home To Roost.

Coming Home To Roost.

I was told that it would not be possible to upload to blogger at the time that I normally write my post. So I will not be able to share with you the marvellous gates I came across yesterday on the new running route I found. I was so sure Jerry would liked to have seen them. The artistry was amazing.

As I was talking about living in the past on my other blog I added this painting about coming home to roost.

I often watch the birds return from the sea to roost overnight. Or the starlings in their hundreds gathering together to roost in safety.

But our past can often come back to roost and haunt our present. It was this that I was trying to think about on my other blog.

This painting was a very large painting. I thought it was never going to sell and was giving thought to using the canvas again. Thank goodness I took ages to get round to doing it because it did in fact sell and the person who purchased it has had many hours of pleasure from it he assures me.

This blog is linked to my other. Let Us Not Dwell In The Past

  1. Hi Ralph.
I'm not surprised the painting sold at all. I like how the light background draws your eye right through that dark foreground. It's very effective :0)

  2. This looks like a very amazing place. I like how you handled the water as it reached the sand. I can feel its wetness.

Dwelling in the past... its crippling. Of course, going down memory lane once in a while can be warm and fun. We have an expression, bury the hatchet. Then Garth Brooks had a song with the phrase in it, we bury the hatchet but leave the handle sticking out. Now that's the crippling part!

  3. Hi Ralph, I like the painting too, the colors are powerful and the eye is drawn out to the sea.
YES, I do want to see the gate! Maybe on tomorrow's post?

  4. I don't have to worry about living in the past...I have a sibling who reminds me of every wrong I may have done....of course she has never, ever done anything wrong! That doesn't sound very nice does it...but so true!

There are definitely moments in my past I would change to today. However having said that; would I do any differently today, encountering the same situation and not knowing the full impact of the decision. I don't think so....I'd do the same. Blunder through, but always with heart.

  5. Good message Ralph. I'm back and finally have a chance to relax and check on my blogging buddies. Living in this moment is wonderful. Only when I'm tired and weak does the past intrude on my happiness. I refuse to let the past ruin this wonderful moment or any of my future ones. Thanks for reminding us.

I really like this painting and look forward to the gates.
